Our Confirmation program is a 2 year preparation program that gathers together our Catholic schooled, public schooled, and homeschooled children to prepare all of our parish children for their Sacrament. Students traditionally begin this program in seventh grade and complete it with reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation in eighth grade. To enter this program, we ask children to be co-enrolled in Montini, religious education, or be following a Diocesan approved home study program.
Our Confirmation preparation classes meet once a month. A parent or guardian is expected to attend class at the same time as their child. More information about these programs will be available soon.
We use the Chosen program published by Ascension Press. Half of the program is completed each year. During the class, we watch the videos and engage in discussions.
New for the 2024-25 program, we will be planning a little differently. Our 7th graders will begin preparation classes in the fall of 2024 and continue through the spring of 8th grade in 2026. We will conclude our program in the fall of 2026 (their 9th grade year) with a retreat and reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
If you have a child seventh grade or older who is interested in preparing for Confirmation, please contact Lisa Johnson in the Religious Education Office at 815-385-2959 or at reoffice@stpatrickmchenry.org
Confirmation will be celebrated Saturday, January 18, 2025 at 10am at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church in Crystal Lake
